Baljit Banga

Baljit is CEO at Hibiscus and has worked in the violence against women and girls’ sector in the UK for 20+ years for women’s rights organisations. she has also served on the Boards of Trustees for racial and social justice organisations. She has many years of experience of social policy and research, strategic advocacy, fundraising and commissioning policy. She has served as an expert submitting evidence to the UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women, the CEDAW People’s Tribunal, the UN Human Rights Committee on the impact of government immigration policy on migrant women and has led on work on intersectionality, gender neutrality and migrant women for Women against Violence Europe (a regional advocacy network of women’s organisations). She received her doctorate at the Institute of Policy Research at the University of Bath.

Why I’m involved 

I believe that there is a better way to engage in resource redistribution to support communities that is based on fair, just and equitable practices. To achieve this, it is critical to disrupt funding cultures as they currently exist and seek alternative and reimagined ways to achieve a vision embedding social, racial and economic justice.
